Local Guides

Set Up Clash by Platform

Guides are split into executable flows: install a client, import a subscription, enable proxy access, choose a policy, then troubleshoot with logs and latency tests.

Start

Complete these five steps first

  1. Download a clientOpen the matching platform page and choose a client that fits your system version, chip architecture, and workflow.
  2. Import subscriptionCopy your subscription URL, import it from Profiles, configuration, or subscription settings, then update once to confirm the node list.
  3. Enable proxyOn desktop, enable system proxy first and use TUN for apps that ignore it. On mobile, allow the VPN profile when prompted.
  4. Choose policyUse rule mode for daily use, then choose auto select, a manual node, or a region policy group as needed.
  5. Check statusRun latency tests and confirm nodes, logs, traffic stats, and target-site access behave as expected.

Windows Guide

Windows installation and setup

For Windows 10/11, start with Clash Verge Rev, FlClash, Mihomo Party, or Clash Nyanpasu.

  1. Download and installChoose a Windows client from the download page and run the installer. If Windows Firewall appears, allow private network access.
  2. Import subscription URLOpen Profiles, configuration, or subscriptions, paste the URL, save it, update once, and confirm nodes and policy groups appear.
  3. Enable system proxyTurn on System Proxy on the home screen. If you need all apps captured, enable TUN mode and install the service when prompted.
  4. Test node latencyRun latency tests for nodes or policy groups and choose a stable route. Rule mode is recommended for daily use.

Tip: If browsers work but desktop apps do not, check whether those apps follow system proxy. Apps that ignore it usually need TUN mode.

macOS Guide

macOS installation and setup

For Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, the reference includes nine clients: ClashX, ClashX Pro, ClashX Meta, Clash Verge, Clash Verge Rev, Clash for Windows, FlClash, Mihomo Party, and Clash Nyanpasu.

  1. Check chip architectureOpen About This Mac. M-series Macs use Apple Silicon/arm64 builds; Intel Macs use x64/Intel builds.
  2. Install the appInstall the downloaded .dmg or .pkg into Applications. If macOS blocks opening, allow it in Privacy & Security.
  3. Grant network permissionsOn first launch, allow network extension, system proxy, or VPN permissions and enter your Mac password if requested.
  4. Import and enableImport the subscription URL, update the profile, choose rule mode and a policy group, then enable system proxy or enhanced/TUN mode.

Tip: After switching networks or waking from sleep, toggle system proxy off and on, then update the subscription or switch nodes if needed.

Android Guide

Android installation and setup

For Android phones and tablets, use Clash Meta for Android, FlClash, or Clash for Android.

  1. Install APKDownload an Android client from the download page. When installing an external APK, allow your browser or file manager to install apps.
  2. Import profileOpen Profiles or configuration, create a URL subscription, paste the link, save it, and update.
  3. Allow VPN permissionStart the connection and accept Android's VPN request. A key or VPN indicator in the status bar means it is active.
  4. Keep it runningDisable battery restrictions for the client to prevent Android from stopping the connection after screen lock.

Tip: If only some apps are not proxied, check per-app proxy rules, LAN bypass, or the app allowlist.

iOS Guide

iOS usage guide

There is no official Clash client for iOS. Use a Clash-compatible app such as Stash, Shadowrocket, or Quantumult X.

  1. Install a compatible clientGet Stash, Shadowrocket, or Quantumult X from the App Store. Some apps may require a non-mainland China Apple ID.
  2. Import by URLOpen configuration or Profiles, choose URL download/import, paste the Clash subscription URL, and save.
  3. Allow VPN configurationWhen iOS asks for VPN permission, tap Allow and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.
  4. Choose policy and testUpdate nodes, choose auto, region, or manual node policies, then test target sites in the browser.

Tip: iOS cannot install APK files or run desktop Clash builds. Use one of the iOS-compatible clients listed on the download page.

Routing

Choosing rule routing

Rule mode fits most scenarios. Common local services stay direct, while accelerated or secure traffic uses proxy routes. Use global mode briefly for testing, then return to rule mode.

Check

Troubleshooting

Check whether the subscription URL is complete, expired, or unreachable from your current network.

Run a latency test and switch to a node with lower latency or lighter load. If test results look fine but browsing is slow, check whether the correct region policy is selected.

Check the current mode and rule hits, then add the target domain to custom proxy rules.

Some apps do not read system proxy. On desktop, try TUN mode. On Android or iOS, confirm VPN permission is allowed and the client is still running.
